The Norwich School

Dyers Company connection with the Norwich School goes back to 1947 and was first made by Judge Norman Daynes, sometime Prime Warden of the Company and also Old Norvicensian. The school has its own website and so this page merely seeks provide some background on the connection from the Company's point of view.

The Company's Charitable Trust has been and continues to be a major benefactor of the school with contributions in the past to enhance musical and sporting facilities as well as in science and other disciplines and provides a bursary to cover half the school fees of one pupil in each academic year. The Company also appoints three Governors of the school.

The school has been blessed with an enthusiastic and imaginative Headmaster, Jim Hawkins, supported by equally dedicated and enthusiastic staff. In the nature of things however, Jim moved on to assume the Headship of Harrow School wef September 2011.

The current Headmaster is Steffan Griffiths, who took up his role in September 2011. His previous appointment was as Usher (Principal Deputy Head) at Magdalen College School, Oxford. After reading Classics at University College Oxford, he taught at Tonbridge School and Eton College.
